Took a long and much needed stroll through peaceful, barren grasslands with the boyfriend just to relax and unwind from hectic work weeks. Sometimes it's mentally rewarding to step away from the energies of the city and retreat to some place relatively abandoned and placid from the rest of the world. Some things I discovered from this: I can stare at duck-filled ponds and daydream for hours on end; I find desolate forestry wildly artistic; I appreciate simple, Internet-free days; walking aimlessly and chatting up a storm with my boyfriend about the most random things is the best feeling in the world; searing hot green tea lattes in large soup-sized mugs are the perfect remedy on chilly, windy days

PS: I'll be announcing the winner to my ARMOR RING GIVEAWAY tomorrow 11:59pm EST! There's still time to enter here or below-just follow those quick instructions on how to win.
And many warm thank yous to everyone who entered so far! :)

Currently on my radar: vintage record coffee shops, Carroll Gardens, geometric prism jewelry, Jen Kao, casual layered ensembles ie. Lexington/Rag&Bone fall 2011, dip-dyed lace, old Persian rugs, floor pillow dining, Ludlow/Rivington/Stanton/Orchard streets, and Gypsy Death Star

This is an uncanny version of Charles Anastase's platforms.
I guess it's now pretty evident that this designer exudes mighty shoe inspiration.

Foxy Platforms

I think I'm about to cave in. The Jessica Simpson Danys (the spot-on knockoff to Charles Anastase) have become one of my all-time favorite pairs I've ever owned (proudly have the pewter ones courtesy of my amazing bf). But I've been on a desperate shopping pilgrimage in hopes of finding the slightly more versatile black versions, which have pretty much vanished from all existence. And I'm not trying to shell out 300 bucks and up on the ones listed on ebay. A teeny bit tempting, but NO way.

I've now found these babies in the midst of Nasty Gal's many new addictingly gotta-have-it-all stock pile.

Ok, just to recap a little...this Easter weekend was pretty delightful to say the least. If there's one thing I love more than anything it's spending quality moments with people I love, catching up on old times with the familia, reminiscing on stories when we were scruffy and odd little kids, and scarfing down on loads of Filipino food and ever so sweet Port wine. Can't help but feel a bit sappy these past couple of days.

Also, spent a lovely Friday with my boyfriend Lucas just strolling through SoHo, NYC and addictively ogling the many street vendors that were sprawled throughout Broadway and Prince Streets. If I could get my hands on leather triple roped bracelets in every hue, ornate rock star rings, and a myriad of pendant and charmed necklaces, I'd scoop them up in a HEART BEAT. We concluded our day with a lovely dinner and champagne cocktails at Barmarché. Their grilled shrimp salad and steak frites were out of this world scrumptious.

Took some streetstyle shots of some awesomely stylish people as well...stay tuned for those upcoming posts!

ps: If you guys find yourself debating on those JC clogs...here's a little tip from me, BUY THEM if you still can. They're ridiculously comfortable, quirky, and you'll find yourself walking the entire day not feeling an ounce of pain.

a storied journey through time

Took a spontaneous Sunday "field trip" to NYC's long renowned AMNH with my bf and familia. I felt a bit nostalgic since I remember touring that museum when I was a little scruffy kid, especially when I peeked out of the 81st street station only to find that much-beloved Central Park as the first of my sightings. Ah, memories!

After strolling through the many eyeful historic exhibits from T-Rex to Genghis Khan (which strangely reminded me of Stiller's Night at the Museum this time around), we pretty much concluded our little tour with a must-see seating at the trippy space show, Journey to the Stars. Go Whoopi! If you haven't been, just gooo! I guarantee you'll have a delightful and may I stress again "TRIPPY" experience. My mom cracked me up too, saying that she wished she could turn her bedroom into one of those dome screens and just fall asleep watching artificial shooting stars and auroras all night long. haha!

ps: Thanks guys for the lovely comments on my previous "trinket" post. I'll continue to shop for more little addictive knickknacks to add to my humble abode and keep you updated.
