Taking the most spontaneous days off from work to catch the last few glimpses of summer is becoming an unnecessary habit of mine. But, then again, who can resist random outings to taste that 5-star Soho caipirinha that everyone's raving about, or testing out Intelligentsia, which apparently is the "best coffee imaginable", or even the special tres leche donut from Doughnut Plant that puts all other mundane flavors to shame...and how about Amy's Bread? By the way, if you haven't tried their black olive twist, you're truly missing out. I can ramble endlessly here when it comes to all my recent taste-testings. And adding to more frivolous distractions, I'm starting to rediscover varied "treasure troves" (local shops, parks and quintessential whip-out-your-book-or-ipad benches) situated throughout New York City and deriving a much deeper appreciation of my surroundings. Thankfully, the nature of my work has pretty much made me rethink just how fascinating this city can be.

Now on to these new pics. Here I'm sporting a couple recent acquisitions that have made it to the closet staple category. In the search for the perfect fitted stripe top, I stumbled upon this American Apparel bodysuit during my daily online browsing/shopping trances. It's simple and stays put, plus the scooped back gives that extra something, which can be described in so many pretty words. Also, I've added this Elizabeth & James-inspired knuckle armor ring courtesy of Modtoast. I don't know why I waited so long, but this is certainly the "staple" ring to own. That, along with her cage hinge ring - they refuse to come off my fingers. Once again, Thank You So Much!

Lazy Saturday which consisted of: waking up a little past noon, browsing aimlessly through my favorite blogs in a trance-like state (as per usual), tossing around scruffy old toys for the mere enjoyment of seeing my dog pounce on them like a cat and taking him for a much-needed stroll through the winding paths of the park in my hometown. Before heading back to whip up homemade fruit crepes with the boyfriend and veg out on the sofa, I just had to capture some shots of this beautiful gifted talon cuff from my special friend at MODTOAST. The quality of the hardware is impeccable, as always. I also adore it's contrasting element as well - the almost fierce style of the talons paired with something soft like a knit jumper or free-flowing dress adds to the piece's it-factor. I can't thank you enough!

Nothing beats the feeling of taking a few hours of off-time from a hectic work week. Especially when such a day involves succulent coconut-almond-nutella crepes followed by searing hot cafe au lait, and frivolous wandering around the West Village with the boyfriend. Quite serene to say the least. Here, I'm wearing a new blouse from American Gold that I ordered from Stanton James. If you close your eyes and run your hands through it it feels almost identical to rose petals. Lucas actually pointed this out first and after petting it a while he was pretty spot on. I find myself always gravitating towards it every time I get dressed, which is probably why I wore it three days in a row. And in terms of comfort level, it's definitely high up on the charts. I've also been carrying around this Foley + Corinna tote, which I consider to be a loyal old friend. I can't even remember when I got it (6-7 years ago maybe?), but it has never left my side. And the leather aged so beautifully over the years - highly recommend!

Here's yet another new do.

I was a bit too inspired one day with Francoise Hardy that I decided to switch it up a little and go for the choppy '60s fringe effect (and I'm actually thinking about going choppier). With all the varied dye hues, bleach processes and sporadic sessions with the scissors, I'm lucky these poor stands were able to withstand my indecisive tendencies. Perhaps it's time to give it a little break and let the darn thing just grow out. Besides I think I'm pretty content with this new look...for now. :P

These are my feet's new best friends. After piercing through the cardboard packaging and flipping the shoebox lid, it was love at first glance. They surpassed my expectations in terms of quality and comfort. And I'm already mapping out where I would wear them and with how many various outfit combinations. The possibilities are endless considering their timeless shape and supple texture. I also find myself strangely taking multiple whiffs just because I love the smell of new suede. Is that weird?

I think it's due time for some new wardrobe creativity. For a number of weeks, I find myself (unintentionally) resorting to pretty much the same sort of ensemble before dashing out the door-- cuffed up pants/summer tank/suede booties/clutch. In terms of dressing efficiency and comfort, it's a win/win situation, but perhaps it's time to whip out those summer dresses and sandals for a slight change. Here, I'm sporting two recent little additions that have never left my side from day one: the AA pink leather clutch, which I proudly displayed a couple posts down and this YSL-inspired ring from my lady friend Terri at Modtoast (I currently have the turquoise and coral ones). Both accessories come in a spectrum of tempting colors and I'm finding it quite hard to resist the idea of buying them all.

Found myself using these bags on heavy rotation. While shooting in the Meatpacking, I saw that tote hanging on the display window in Yoya and immediately popped in the store and had to have it. Plus, all profits go to the relief efforts for the earthquake in Japan and tsunami in the Pacific, so all the more reason to have one. You can also buy it here. The AA leather clutch is something that I think everyone should have...at least in one color. The soft leather and quality surpasses the price tag. I'm thinking to buy more in black, tan and fluorescent pink. The one I have now has a soft blush tone that's versatile with all sorts of looks. And I'm hoping they'll bring back the cotton candy colors, because those were a pair of beauties.

Spontaneous snapshots at Bryant Park. The weather this week has been far too desert-like. Yet staying indoors is just not an option on days like these. Even though opting somewhere near air-con access would seem like the rational and sane thing to do, I just LOVE summers out in NYC, no matter how sweltering it gets. I'm guessing this may be due to recent post-work organic picnics to watch the sunset, last minute date nights and aimless long walks from uptown to downtown.

Zara S/S 11 Pointed Court Shoes

These will go down as one of the most timeless designs that Zara has ever created. This style has some kind of seductive, yet classic "power suit" appeal circa 1990 (love the cut out sides). I naturally envision Robert Palmer's "Simply Irresistible" video whenever I look at them. They made their debut in May and, much to my dismay, were instantaneously sold out within a week's time! It wasn't surprising though to eventually find them popping up on eBay for almost triple what their worth -- and yes, I ALMOST succumbed to my notorious impulsive shopper mode until last Monday. I managed to find three pairs hiding below some sweeping maxi dresses, with only one left in my size. Hallelujah to Zara's Herald Square! :)

A few things to share: lengthy and very random walks (and frequent pitstops) around NYC with my boyfriend makes for serene, worthwhile moments; made a sporadic visit to a salon and opted for summer highlights in the lightest shade possible (and soon realizing, "damn, I love going blonde!"); rummaging my closet for a pair of remotely comfortable shoes and rediscovering how much I love my Topshop Antique boots (mostly for its comfort factor and partly for its Isabel Marant-ish clone-like resemblance); strawberry daifuku is a lethal substance; love the euphoria of cooking in the kitchen, experimenting and whipping up healthy vegetarian dishes that put smiles on Lucas' handsome face.

I've been wrestling with the thought that chopping off my locks to a shoulder-length bob was kind of a bad idea. Yes, I know...it's just hair (a mere trivial concern) and the darn thing will grow back, but I'm just missing the versatility of a longer length. So in small attempts to spiff these strands up, I'm currently experimenting with an '80s style do and amping up the volume of my hair with this new magical mousse from Umberto Giannini. This can seriously works some wonders by thickening each strand and I sort of feel like a little Bon Jovi groupie circa 1989 (very random!) with a whiff of jasmine and citrus emanating from my head.

So basically my Nikon and Olympus cameras went on holiday and photo booth decided to take over lol. But not to worry...they'll soon be making a comeback. Today I woke up to the warm sun on my face and immediately had the urge to slip into something light and white. I'm just hoping these sweet spring days last a whole season. Here I'm wearing my favorite bell-sleeved dress. It contains the perfect airy elements of crochet and trapeze shapes. All I need now is a pair of wooden platform sandals with tan leather straps (oh how I wish the Topshop Wiley's would make their return back into stores!).

Here's a few items that I find myself resorting to before anything else. I simply can't get enough of Urban Outfitters "flair". Whenever I drop by a store (which has developed into a weekly basis), my first stop is its jewelry section. Crazy affordable things that I wear constantly. I also couldn't overlook posting these Topshop boots. They're by far the MOST comfortable everyday shoes in my closet. And the next best thing: they go with literally every outfit I throw on. I consider these to be one of the smartest purchases I've made in footwear, since most of my closet is composed of platform five-inchers, which at times make it impossible to hussle for a cab or the subway. They're also a bit like the Isabel Marant boots, which have been on my wish list forever, so that's a definite bonus.

I think I've just rediscovered my addiction to mac's photo booth and its genius ability to take multiple shots without me having to disrupt Lucas from his Harvard "crunch time". Plus, I'm kind of feeling the whole grainy effect of these images coupled with the room's natural light. Here, I'm wearing a few pieces that I recently bought. First off is this Zara leather jacket from Autumn 2009/10, which sold out like hot cakes in stores. I was literally kicking myself in the bum for not buying it when I had the chance. The heavens smiled when I found it on eBay last week at a cool price. Also, I've been loving the concept of 70s inspired palazzos for spring and ASOS really nailed it with this pair (you'll see more of these pants later in better pics). This floppiest of floppy hats from American Apparel is perhaps my favorite from my little headwear collection. I sometimes get the urge to buy them in every color.

Running some crazy errands with the boyfriend today and literally threw these on in under three minutes and was out the door. I consider that somewhat of an achievement. Luckily we were able to squeeze another few minutes for pictures. By the way, many sincere thank yous to everyone for the compliments about my new do. It's somehow brought a new meaning to efficiency as far as "post-shower" prep times are concerned. No more dreadful bird nests in the midst anymore. :)

After scrolling through my past blog posts, I noticed that I've literally been wearing this leather jacket to death. Perhaps a new purchase is in order? I'm picturing something distressed with a hefty amount of zippers and buckles. Lately, I've also found myself sifting through my boyfriend's old gear and pairing them up with just one piece from my own closet. First, I've ventured to unearth some of his insanely cool 501 jeans that have aged perfectly over the years. Lucky for me, some of his pairs don't fit him anymore so I've proudly claimed them as my own! Next up, I'll probably be tapping into his personal myriad of crispy, "Harvard-style" button-downs and jumpers. I'm sure he won't mind. ;)

Here are some random shots taken with my new Olympus Pen E-P1 camera. I promise to provide more creative style shots in the next coming posts. As for now, I've just been having loads of fun toying around with these built-in art filters. It transforms the image of virtually any ordinary room or inanimate object into something artsy and magical. The image quality fits DSLR standards to a T, while maintaining a genuine vintage-like appearance. Plus, it fits into my mini purses like a point-and-shoot. I was debating between this and the Sony Nex-5, but the art filter feature completely sold me! Overall, Micro Four Thirds cameras are looking sweet! Stay tuned for more shots with this little tike.

Here's a few shots of a couple items I bought after succumbing to a recent hazardous retail frenzy (more pics coming soon). This Scala outback hat conveys a special kind of cool Aussie-ness with its slightly curved wide-brims that flare up a bit on the sides and dip down at the back. This, along with the speckled yellow feather, sold me. Also picked up this retro-like fringe bag at H&M without thinking twice. It's bucket-shaped, has a minimal amount of gold studs and a series of fringe and tassels all around. I'll surely be lugging this little one everywhere.

Took a long and much needed stroll through peaceful, barren grasslands with the boyfriend just to relax and unwind from hectic work weeks. Sometimes it's mentally rewarding to step away from the energies of the city and retreat to some place relatively abandoned and placid from the rest of the world. Some things I discovered from this: I can stare at duck-filled ponds and daydream for hours on end; I find desolate forestry wildly artistic; I appreciate simple, Internet-free days; walking aimlessly and chatting up a storm with my boyfriend about the most random things is the best feeling in the world; searing hot green tea lattes in large soup-sized mugs are the perfect remedy on chilly, windy days

Thankfully basked in some gratifying NYC weather today- a long awaited transition from the abysmal cold and ice. Apparently, there's a mild "solar flare" occurring at this moment, but I can't complain. My little airy dresses and shorts are aching to be taken out for a spin. Before stepping outdoors I completely underestimated today's warm beauty and looked a little obnoxious perusing the streets in this massive, teddy bear-like Wang cardi. I found myself purposefully sliding this off my shoulders in fear of boiling. Still, I love it so much that I couldn't take it off completely...just yet.

Attempted to stroll around the usual round-up of shops around SoHo, but slippery sidewalks, arctic winds and my stubborn persistence to wear nothing but my platform 5-inchers, resulted in numerous cozy cafe stops for most of the day and ended with dinner at Cafe Gitane. It was a bit of a slushy mission trekking from Grand St. and Broadway to Mott St. and Prince, but well worth the legwork. Luckily, this toasty and fluffy vintage leopard coat compensated for those impractical Aggie boots I couldn't resist wearing. All in all, it was an undoubtedly delightful day. And to top it off, I devoured a massive dish that combined my foodie weaknesses- hummus, couscous, roasted eggplant and pesto oil. I'll end on that note. :)

It's safe to say that I can finally cross out "closet makeover" off my new year's resolutions list. I've been meaning to make some changes to that little cramped nook for quite some time. It was in dire need of a bright face-lift. Surprisingly, a lot can be accomplished with a can of paint, brush, hammer and some monstrous nails. It took a measly two days for this mini renovation - only to find out that I am now officially obsessed with white-painted wood floors. I'm so tempted to whip out the brush and paint my entire room floor this tranquil shade, but my boyfriend's not too keen on the idea and fears that it might make our room feel like a psych ward. He might have a point but all I can envision is something purely zen-like. Here I decided to play "Selby" and take some snaps of my closet space. :)

This cardigan serves as a testament to my adoration for all things wool and chunky (a few quick shots, but I promise to showcase this beauty in more elaborate photos). This knit was yet another beautiful Christmas gift from my boyfriend, Lucas. There's an evident complexity here with these loopy bouclé sleeves + blouse-like rib-knit textures - all I can mutter about it is that it's pure genius. The apparent ubiquity of Alexander Wang's pieces only highlight his designer greatness and I can never grow tired of wearing his clothes. I also bought a few other items with some holiday gift cards (featured in the last photo). I always seem to have this connection to accessories involving animal skulls and prints incorporating leopard. Also, I have a little addiction with ASOS these days. They never disappoint.

As much as I love pristine white winters, I think I'm pretty much done with all this unforgiving snow once it hits "black ice" phase. I never thought walking along sidewalks could be so terrifying, let alone maneuvering through ridiculous heaps of snow...just to take shots at this particular wall. It was composed of perfectly old and disheveled, cracked stone mixed with imperfectly spackled brick, which I thought meshed well with this cozy wool poncho. Luckily, my sweet boyfriend was a real trooper and was kind enough to withstand the painful winds during this little shoot. It was a good 20 freezing minutes outdoors before we decided to call it a day. I seriously cannot wait for spring to peak its pretty face!

Here's me sporting a few of my favorite Christmas presents- the ASOS pyramid clutch that I begged my boyfriend to get me and an undeniable T by Wang staple piece that I think every gal should have in their closet. It goes with virtually everything! The loose fit feels like a luxurious OVER-oversized tee that I could easily snuggle right to sleep with. And the clutch incorporates every element that I'm desiring right now (plush velvets, rich hues, metals and anything tribal-inspired).

These photos were shot on my way to Spice Market for an intimate and memorable bday dinner. If you've never been there before, it's an experience worth having. The interior architecture itself left us mesmerized and the dishes (ahem, chicken samosas with coriander yogurt dip, lemongrass mussels, and seared cod with thai basil and hot chili sauce!!!) were equally impressive - i just might do another post strictly on that venue.

These are a couple post-shots of last week's much-anticipated Alexander Wang sample sale in NYC. I was anxious to take the most sporadic photos walking along SoHo with Lucas, but the frigid, almost face-knawing cold climate made it nearly impossible to whip out the cam. I don't even know how I managed to queue up for over an hour just to dive into those blessed sale bins and racks. I'm so happy I did though because I not only scored a tan cocoon cardi, gray knit romper and maxi dresses, but was also shot and interviewed by street style photographers like Sarah Cates of Refinery29 (here) and Marie Claire Andrea of AM New York - it was quite surreal. Ended the shopping trip early at a Starbucks on Spring and Crosby just cozying up with a warm cup of peppermint mocha and my trusty laptop. :)

The color schemes of taupe, greys and rugged, woodsy browns scream perfection and it doesn't just stop there. From the long and skimming silhouettes of these neutral dresses, oversized jumpers with long, woolly sleeves that consume one's hands, wrap-around leather belts to distressed leather - I simply cannot ask for a more perfect winter style. Now, it's time for me to take such inspiration, work some magic in my closet and improvise!

Last week, I had the opportunity to be interviewed by the gorgeous Mari Twins of the awesomely hip TV program, iVive H20 at 1 Front Street in Brooklyn. I was so happy, not to mention immensely flattered to hear that they loved Little Fashion Bird. I have to admit though - as excited as I was at the thought of being filmed during the interview, I was initially a shy and nervous ball of wreck. But the team at iVive H20 were simply amazing and I'm so grateful to have met the lovely Mari Twins. We chatted over our current fashion obsessions, which included our adoration for all things vintage, our trusty platform heels and our love for bangles and cuffs (the more that's stacked over our wrists, the better!). Well it's safe to say that proper insomnia has officially set in as I type up this blog post at nearly 4am. Is it wrong that I'm feeling more dedicated these days to fashion blogging than focusing on my actual work? I can't help but feel a little guilty for wanting to scour all my favorite blogs out there rather than meet my article deadlines. And adding to even more distractions, I love doing shoots with Lucas at the most random hours of the night whenever I feel the slightest bit inspired. Here, I'm wearing my favorite leopard jacket that never fails to keep me warm and toasty throughout the day. I really like the subtle hints of dark heather grey on it too. Another little piece that leaves me obsessed is this dreamcatcher necklace by Forever 21 - a $10 score that I'm so proud to call my own.

Forever 21...you never let me down, you're awesome. ;)

Whenever I would get dressed for anything lately, it seems that maxi dresses are virtually always included in the mix. Whether I pair them with an oversized sweater, cardigans or massive and cozy coats, it cuts prep time down to five minutes or less, which is a relief to my boyfriend! All it really needs is a trusty pair of thick-ish, opaque tights to shield bare legs underneath from the cold chill. From the looks of it, this particular style is like a contrast between spring and fall, which I really adore. Here, I'm wearing my absolute favorite white maxi dress that has unending levels of voluminous ruffled tiers - it's really quite entertaining to wear. Also that faux fur scarf was possibly the best $14 I've ever spent in H&M. I'm wondering if the matching $12 fur trapper hat is still available. Hmmm, you think?

On our way to do some errands, Lucas and I decided to whip out the camera for a brief photo session. To our surprise, the weather was perfectly sunny and warm-ish - a nice break from the incessantly windy and chilly days in good ol' Jersey and NYC.

Here, I'm wearing a BCBG jacket that quite possibly stands as one of the oldest and treasured little fashion-related gifts from my parents. It's always hanging happily in my closet and is currently being used on heavy rotation. I remember begging them for this, which they thankfully gave me as a gift for my eighth grade graduation - yup, it's that freaking OLD! And thank God it still fits. I think this was inspired by my dad. He loved wearing vintage brown bomber jackets with the perfect hint of distressed leather and age. Actually, he always appreciated fashion and style in general- like father like daughter, I guess. :)

I recently scored this chunky knit sweater from Zara last week and had to showcase it here right away (pardon the not so amazing photos, but I just got really excited to post). I already have envisioned in my mind the 100 or so ways that I'd like to incorporate this knit into different looks, so you'll probably be seeing it in many of my future posts. I promise to bring you better images of this little beauty. When it comes to thick sweaters I've always been super picky, especially since I loathe anything that feels even remotely itchy or sheds like a furry animal. Thankfully, this one doesn't fall into those categories. I even love the fact that it's oversized, which allows for perfect off the shoulder access.

I love the cloudy, gray days of autumn, especially when the leaves turn into those perfect shades of red and burnt orange - they just seem to amplify the streets with a burst of holiday colors. But what I love most about this weather is the fact that I get free reign to happily proclaim my love for all things chunky, knitted and furry. It's almost to the point where I just want to wear them during waking and sleeping hours, especially this Russian hat I've been obsessing over. I also bought some new chunky sweaters from Zara, which are pure heaven (will post those photos shortly). Their fall collections are beyond words. It's as if I have to pry myself off the racks in fear that I'll max out my credit cards. As far as footwear, I'm a true follower of Forever 21 - their shoes never cease to amaze. I scored these studded wedges right before they sold out in September, and let me just say - I never thought running across busy streets with five inchers, while feeling totally comfortable and in control was ever possible. This pair proved me wrong.

Although I should be gearing up today for some exciting Halloween events in NYC, my current state of mind still feels like its on Rio de Janeiro time zone - mainly due to the fact that I now consider that blessed city my home away from home. These shots were taken during our tranquil, 3-day tour through Búzios (a posh resort made famous by the legendary Brigitte Bardot). There's even a monumental statue of the actress erected in her honor. We stayed at the heavenly sweet and rather stylish guest house, Pousada Vila Pitanga - I highly recommend it if you ever plan on taking a holiday there. It was like magically stepping into a feature-story from Elle Decor.

I packed lightly during our stay, yet I wondered if it was even necessary to pack at all, considering that I lived in this Zara dress (which I thankfully spotted on clearance!) throughout our little holiday. I'm not sure what I admire more - it's soft, gently pink hue, wispy fringe tassles or the fact that I'm able to wear it just as it is with some rugged weared-down boots, or paired up with jeans or cut-offs (with a slight tuck in the front for a subtle asymmetrical shape). This little lovely piece can go from frilly and girly to bohemian edgy in three seconds tops!

With the fall weather creeping close, I should be prepping for a 'turn of season' apparel revamp, but instead I feel the incessant need to adorn myself with various mixes of mesmerizing crochet. This might be due largely to the fact that I'm still basking in the Brazilian rays here in Rio - and while New York is preparing for the upcoming chillier days ahead, Brazil is getting ready for its summer. Although my trip is soon drawing to a close, I'm striving to suck up every bit of summer with maxi dresses, platform sandals, twisted bandeau bikinis and the much personally adored crochet, such as this black one. I think it carries with it some favorable elements - from the slouchy, wide neckline that allows one shoulder to peek up, fringed hem and sleeves and black, floral pattern, which hints a certain little dose of innocence with some subtle feeling of darkness.

I can virtually live in crochet. What are some personal clothing items you just cannot live without?

Perusing Rio's shopping centers (particularly the mall scenes) has been more or less a "hit or miss" experience, especially when a majority of the little sweet-smelling, perfume infused boutiques rack up some pretty hefty price tags for clothes and accessories I can easily get at an H&M or Forever 21 at a guilt-free bargain. I was initially ecstatic to discover Zara stores trickling around the city; only to realize soon after that much of their current full price merchandise was about two seasons behind (compared to NYC) -- it's not a great feeling when you spot a mini bucket bag for close to $200, albeit their new arrival, which you remembered seeing in the clearance rack for 40 bones back in June. What I do love, however, is their individualized and whimsical approach towards retail store design and layout (qualities you'd rarely see in your typical US shopping mall). Although my wallet refuses to shell out $150 and up on faux leather sandals or simple canvas espadrilles, Rio has personally redefined the meaning of "window shopping." (I'll post shots of some aesthetically cool shops later on)

What I did learn so far, in regards to "smart" shopping, is that the best deals are found amidst the heavenly maze of Sunday flea markets and boho street vendors. I luckily scored a hardcore snake ring and knuckle ring for peeaaanuts and a Panama hat, which has been resting on my head, even as I watch tv or cook dinner with the bf -- when I love something so much, I can't seem to take it off (had this slightly weird trait since I was four years old when my aunt bought me my first pair of patent leather mary janes). I've also been toting around the most precious Bolivian backpack, which is a purely satisfying weaved mix of the sweetest colors imaginable (my next outfit post will feature this baby). I have yet to complete my mission of finding the best Rio shopping deals, so stay tuned for more of my new scores.

(scooped this necklace from a native vendor who lives in the Amazon. It's like a little exotic purse for my neck. This came with a precious stone inside, which is believed to give strength.)

Tried to practice the less is more theory when it came to packing shoes for my month-long Brazil trip. And those 3 pairs (JS Danys, Zara clogs and Chiffon wedges) are my absolute favorites at the moment. As you can see from the wedges, the chiffon is getting quite a bit ratty considering what they've been through so far. I've been trekking around Rio with all those babies (flip-flops, however, always in toe as my safety precaution device when I encounter frightening cracked turf). I'm also expanding my collection of new "flair" for my fingers, arms and neck...it's become a pleasant addiction, especially with all those heavenly Brazilian street vendors flocking about.

Touched down in sexy Rio a couple days ago and currently savoring every bit of this exotic (and quite romantic) summer escapade with my bf-- new blog posts of Brasil to come shortly. These images here were taken before I flew out. As simple as it is, this frilly black jumpsuit from Free People has become my instant go-to piece for casual days and nights, even for long sweet naps considering their perfect "pj-like," silky soft quality. I actually wore this for about 3 days straight before giving it a rest in the laundry cycle. Also finally broke in these Anna Kastle platform wedge babies that I scooped up from eBay -- a proud find that quintessentially captures all my personal elements in an awesome shoe purchase: all-day comfort, steal price tag and instantly bumps my height up about 4 or 5 inches without risky fall-smack-down-on-your-face injuries. They also happily passed the tricky cobblestone pavement test in NYC, which usually terrifies THE CRAP out of me when I have to wobble my way across those fierce streets wearing super high platforms.

As if these photos couldn't get more random...but perhaps consider this my photo collage of current little fashion loves that recently entered my life coupled with the new paint job to my "humble abode." First off, I can't stress enough about how much I'm idolizing this long-time fabric favorite we all know as crochet. Whenever I'm scouring shops for a quick retail fix I always find some cosmic magnetic pull to this style, whether it be in the form of dresses, frilly blouses, headbands and even swimwear. Next up are my most recent addition, those yummy chiffon platform wedges in the first two photos -- while I sincerely adore the fierce Givenchy wedges to death, these pleasantly satiate my shoe craving without damaging my wallet. Also, they're remarkably comfortable as though I'm walking on chic marshmallows.

Did a fresh new paint job to my crib space with a calming hue of "Greek Villa" white. With the summer heat beating upon us, I felt the need to find another outlet of "cooling down" since the AC wasn't always enough. I posted my room awhile back (check it out here) when it was a bold peacock blue-ish color (inspired by Bradshaw lol). Now I think after several spontaneous paint jobs (and there were MANY), this white hue whispers complete perfection, especially when paired with my classic "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster that I'll cherish for life (thanks to SFGIRLBYBAY).

I haven't really rounded up a "what to pack" (or otherwise wear) checklist yet, but from the looks of it, I'm leaning towards these trusty, no-fuss maxi style dresses (both the girly, boho kinds and the clean, minimal racerback ones). I recently picked up this heather-grey-oatmeal-ish colored simple dress at H&M a couple days ago, and I'm not sure whether it's the supple soft feel I love more or the fact that it cut my "get ready and go" time to a mere 3 minutes at most. I love those moments when I'm not standing in my closet, twiddling my fingers and actually believing in my head, "I have nothing to wear." Other priceless moments include finding cool stuff at mind-boggling bargain steals -- such as this vintage leather Wang-esque backpack that I scored on eBay for 5 BUCKS, or these platform booties I picked up at this Strawberry store in NYC for $24. It's like retail orgasm to say the least. ;P

I've been on a "semi-blogging hiatus" for the past few weeks (sorry guys), trying to work my butt off in the hopes of saving for my much anticipated vacay in Brazil this coming August. What better way to end the luscious summer days than a month-long trip to quintessential sexy-town, aka Rio de Janeiro! It'll be my first time setting foot in my boyfriend's hometown. Although I have a pretty good feeling that my shopaholic tendencies are gonna kick in when I peruse Rio's eye candy markets and shops, I'm already contemplating what cute little necessities to pack before I get there: easy breezy maxi dresses, denim cutoffs, bikinis, sandals and loads of crochet here and there (crochet is my current weakness). I promise to chronicle every bit of my exotic getaway with outfit snaps and picturesque landscapes!

Top mission starting (eh hemm) 6am tomorrow: hitting the gym for the next 23 DAYS to squeeze into a two-piece and "possibly" swearing off starchy goodies for the whole month. haha!

If you've been to Rio before, I'd absolutely love to hear your suggestions of cool restaurants, shops and any type of fun attractions worth checking out. :)

Lately, every time I step outside, it feels like a big old monster is breathing nasty hot air down my face. Don't get me wrong, I love summer! But times like these, I don't really like fussing about too much on what to wear, and I'm definitely not big on layering (no matter how cute it looks). Staying fresh, cool and comfy is a priority, especially when trekking around NYC during it's humid moments (with the chance of encountering a sticky, sweaty clothing dilemma). These light and airy pieces by James Perse quintessentially fit the bill. I love the neutral colors, angelic fabrics and overall versatility working its magic here.

Spotted these boots on NastyGal. And as much as I'm liking the foxtail keychain by Marcc, I'm LOVING those clog boots with the open heels and ankle cuffs even more. After a slight obsessive few minutes of online surfing, I found out this style is called "FALKEN" by Sam Edelman. And I'm contemplating on getting this pair. Must resist the temptation. My inner voice keeps insisting that they'd be ideal for next fall, AND even summer, considering the open heel bit. And I think the voice is right.
